About This Game

One Night Ultimate Werewolf takes the classic Werewolf formula and compresses it into a single explosive round. There is no multi-day cycle of night kills and day discussions — instead, everyone performs their role's action during one night phase, and then there is one discussion phase followed by a single vote. The twist? Roles might have been swapped during the night, so you might not even be on the team you started on.

This creates a delightfully chaotic experience. The Troublemaker swaps two other players' roles. The Robber steals someone's role. The Drunk swaps their own role with a face-down center card without looking at it. The Insomniac wakes up at the end of the night to check if their role was changed. After the night phase, players discuss, argue, and try to piece together what happened based on conflicting information and claims.

The game works online through apps and browser implementations that handle the night phase narration and timing. Rounds take just 10 minutes, making it perfect for groups that want social deduction without the 30-60 minute commitment of traditional Werewolf or Mafia. The game supports 3-10 players and works exceptionally well over voice chat. For social deduction fans who love rapid-fire games with maximum information density, One Night is the genre at its most concentrated.

How to Play

  1. Assign roles

Each player receives a secret role card. Three extra role cards are placed face-down in the center.

  2. Night phase

Players close their eyes. Each role wakes up in order and performs their action (swap roles, look at cards, etc.).

  3. Discussion

Everyone opens their eyes. A timed discussion begins where players share (or lie about) what they did and learned.

  4. Vote

After discussion, everyone simultaneously points at who they want to eliminate.

  5. Reveal

All role cards are revealed. If a werewolf was eliminated, the village wins. If no werewolf was eliminated, the werewolves win.
