A free Chameleon-style browser game. Everyone sees the secret word except one imposter, then each player gives a clue before the group votes.
About This Game
Imposter is Table Party's free, unofficial take on The Chameleon. Every player sees a board of sixteen words, but only the regular players learn which word is secret. The Imposter sees the board and must infer the answer from everyone else's spoken clues.
Players go around the table and say one clue word aloud. A clue must prove that its speaker knows the answer without making the secret obvious to the Imposter. After the discussion, everyone votes simultaneously. A tied vote accuses nobody and lets the Imposter escape.
If the group catches the Imposter, that player gets one final chance to name the secret word. A correct guess steals the point. Imposter supports three to twelve players, tracks turns and voting in the browser, and uses room-code joining with no account, download, or advertising.
How to Play
Check your role
Most players see the secret word on a sixteen-word board. One player learns only that they are the Imposter.
Give one spoken clue
Take turns saying one word related to the secret without making the answer too easy.
Discuss and vote
Work out who sounded uninformed, then vote simultaneously. A tie means nobody is accused.
Give the Imposter one guess
A caught Imposter can still score by correctly naming the secret word.
Tips & Strategy
- Give a clue that fits a few words on the board rather than pointing straight at one cell.
- Listen for clues that only make sense after another player has narrowed the answer.
- As the Imposter, speaking earlier gives you more room to stay vague.
- Agree on the strongest suspect before voting because a tie lets the Imposter escape.
