Splendor Online
Collect gems, buy development cards, and attract noble patrons in this elegant engine-building strategy game. Splendor Online is polished digital board gaming.

About This Game
Splendor is a gem of economic strategy game design — pun fully intended. Players act as Renaissance merchants, collecting gem tokens to purchase development cards that provide permanent gem bonuses. These bonuses make future purchases cheaper, creating a satisfying engine-building loop. The first player to reach 15 prestige points (from cards and noble visits) wins.
The strategy in Splendor comes from reading the market and your opponents. Do you rush cheap cards for quick noble attention, or invest in expensive cards with high prestige? Do you hoard gems to block opponents, or focus purely on your own engine? Every game presents different card layouts that demand adaptive strategies.
The digital adaptation by Space Cowboys and Asmodee Digital features a polished interface, AI opponents of varying difficulty, and online multiplayer. Games take just 15-30 minutes and the rules can be learned in under 5 minutes, making Splendor one of the most accessible modern strategy games. Its combination of simplicity, depth, and quick play time has earned it permanent status in the board game hall of fame.
How to Play
Take gems
On your turn, take 3 different gem tokens, 2 of the same gem (if 4+ available), or 1 gold joker.
Buy development cards
Spend gem tokens to purchase face-up cards from the market. Cards give permanent gem bonuses and prestige points.
Reserve cards
Reserve a card from the market (taking a gold joker) to buy later. This prevents opponents from taking it.
Attract nobles
When your permanent gem bonuses match a noble's requirements, they visit you automatically for bonus prestige.
Reach 15 prestige points
The first player to accumulate 15 prestige points at the end of a round wins.
Tips & Strategy
- Focus on one or two gem colors early to build a strong engine rather than spreading thin.
- Reserve cards strategically — both to secure key cards and to block opponents.
- Noble tiles are worth 3 points each and should factor into your gem collection strategy.
- Do not ignore level 1 cards — they are cheap and provide the foundation for your engine.
