How to Play Bomb Relay
A ticking bomb lands on one player with a letter combo like "ONT".
Type any real English word containing those letters before the hidden fuse runs out — a valid word passes the bomb on with a fresh combo.
If it explodes on you, you lose one of your two lives. Words can’t be reused in a round.
Last player standing wins the relay.
What Is Bomb Relay?
Bomb Relay is a fast, nerve-wracking word game you can play online with friends straight from your phone. Everyone sits in a shuffled circle and a short letter combo appears on the shared screen — something like "ONT" or "STR." Whoever is holding the bomb has to type any real word that contains those letters before the fuse blows. Land a valid word and the bomb instantly passes to the next player with a brand-new combo. Miss, freeze up, or run out of time, and it goes off in your hands.
The twist that makes it sweat is the hidden fuse. Every round the bomb is set to burn for somewhere between twenty and forty-five seconds, but nobody is told exactly when — and passing the bomb does NOT reset the timer, it just hands the ticking clock to someone else. So a word that ends your turn might be the one that strands the next player with two seconds left. Each player starts with two lives; when the bomb explodes the holder loses one, a quick explosion reveal plays, and a fresh round starts with a new combo and a new secret fuse. Words have to be unique within a round, so you cannot just spam the same easy answer. Last player standing wins, and if things run long the players with the most lives after five minutes take it.
Getting a game going takes seconds. The host opens the game at onlineparty.games/play/bomb-relay and everyone else joins by scanning a QR code or punching in a short four-letter room code — no account, no app store, no download. Pick a nickname and you are in. It runs in any phone browser, so it is phone-only: no TV, no console, no extra hardware. It is completely free, works great whether your friends are on the same couch or scattered across a video call, and it is the kind of quick, loud, "type faster!" party game that fills the gaps between longer games on a game night.

Tips & Strategy
- Keep a couple of reliable short words ready — the fuse is hidden, so the fastest safe answer beats hunting for a fancy one.
- Watch which words have already been used this round; they cannot be reused, so do not waste precious seconds retyping one.
- Since passing the bomb does not reset the fuse, a quick pass early can leave the next player holding it near zero — play the clock, not just the letters.
- Voice chat or being in the same room makes the tension land, so hop on a call if you are playing remotely.
