Fake Artist Online

A Fake Artist Goes to New York (played online through various free implementations) is a brilliant mashup of drawing games and social deduction. All players take turns adding one line to a shared drawing of a secret word — except one player, the Fake Artist, who does not know what the word is. The Fake Artist must bluff their way through, adding lines that seem intentional while secretly having no idea what everyone is drawing.

The tension is palpable. Real artists want to draw clearly enough that others can confirm they know the word, but vaguely enough that the Fake Artist cannot figure it out. The Fake Artist watches everyone else's contributions and tries to blend in by mimicking the general direction of the drawing. After the drawing is complete, everyone votes on who they think the Fake Artist is.

This free browser version faithfully recreates the experience of the physical party game. It works on any device, supports groups of 5-10 players, and requires nothing more than sharing a link. The game is quick (5-10 minutes per round), making it perfect as a warm-up game or for playing multiple rounds back to back. The discussion phase after drawing — where players argue about who drew suspiciously — is where the real fun lives.
