Pretend You're Xyzzy
The unofficial online version of Cards Against Humanity. Play the infamous party card game with friends in your browser for free — no box required.

About This Game
Pretend You're Xyzzy (PYX) is the fan-made, open-source online clone of Cards Against Humanity, and it has been the go-to way to play CAH digitally for years. The rules mirror the physical game perfectly: each round, a Card Czar plays a black card with a fill-in-the-blank prompt, and everyone else submits their funniest white card. The Czar picks the winner, and the most awarded player at the end of the game wins.
What makes PYX valuable beyond just digitizing CAH is the sheer volume of card decks available. Beyond the base set, you can load dozens of expansion packs, fan-created decks, and niche themed sets. Want to play with only movie-themed cards? There is a deck for that. Want to add cards specific to your friend group's humor? You can create custom decks. This extensibility keeps the game fresh long after you have seen the original cards.
The interface is deliberately no-frills — a functional web page that gets the job done without flashy graphics. Games are created in private rooms with shareable links, making it easy to set up during video calls. Because it is open-source, multiple mirrors and forks exist, so if one server is down, you can usually find another. For groups that love Cards Against Humanity but cannot be in the same room, PYX is the established solution.

Tips & Strategy
- Load multiple expansion packs for more variety — the base set alone gets repetitive quickly.
- Read the black card carefully before picking your white card — timing and wordplay matter more than shock value.
- Set the score limit to 7-10 for a good-length game, or play open-ended for parties.
- Pair with a voice chat for the best experience — hearing people read combinations aloud is half the fun.
- Remember that not everyone finds the same humor funny — read the room and choose decks accordingly.
